The investment team is led by Peter Munk, founder and Chairman of the world's largest gold mining corporation, Barrick Gold, and includes some of the world's most respected business figures, including Lord Jacob and Nathaniel Rothschild, Bernard Arnault and Oleg Deripaska. Porto Montenegro is currently the fastest selling development of its kind in Europe.
"MIPA's presentation has been a unique occasion to better understand the reality of Montenegro today and its plans for tomorrow. After listening to the comments of my friends on the flight back to Italy, I am confident that some very concrete outcome of that meeting will come out in the short term."
Alberto Barzanò, Senior Advisor

“And for the uninitiated, there was plentiful to learn. Did you know that there is a country in the world, where you can register a business with a starting capital of exactly EUR 1 (in words: one), the corporative tax rate is 9% (in words: nine) and it takes no longer than 4 days (in words: four) to register a business? This fertile land for investment is named MONTENEGRO”.

“ProMonte was one of the first mobile operations in Telenors international portfolio. Launched in 1996 it has proved to be a sound investment, leading to Telenors 100% acquiring of the company in 2004. Telenor is pleased with its investment and particularly a functioning and steadily improving business environment in Montenegro. ProMonte has been the driving force to bring mobile penetration to 80% and mobile telecommunications standards in Montenegro to Western European standards”
Ivar Sliper, ProMonte/Telenor CEO
"Generally, the Government has already enacted laws in line with EU law (mainly copied from Italian law). Therefore we don't see a lot of socialistic thinking in the Government. The Prime Minister, President and other top people in the Government are pretty western minded."

Peter Munk: “It is close to Venice, the Dalmatian islands, Corfu… 40 minutes’ flying time from Rome, two hours from London, two and a half from Moscow.”
Peter Munk: “It’s not the biggest things I’ve ever done, but in terms of fun, making this out of nothing is the most stimulating thing I’ve worked on.”
Peter Munk: “If you and your friends come over from Sardinia or Portofino or wherever, and run into a bunch of surly antagonistic locals, you’re not going to want to come back.”
Peter Munk: “When I flew down there the first time, I thought it was magnificent. I was stunned to see those phenomenal docks, twice as wide as Monte Carlo’s main dock, or the ones in Nice or Cannes, in that setting. In terms of protection it is as great as any harbor I have ever seen in my whole life. There is nowhere like it.”
Peter Munk: “Djukanovic told me he had this dream [to] create in the Adriatic what Monte Carlo has become in the Med. And as an idea, that really turned me on. I really liked the idea of building a port on the Gulf of Kotor.”
Oliver Colette, executive director of Adriatic Marinas, the company developing Tivat, said: “Despite the economic crisis and recession there has been great interest for the yachting industry. The rich will always want to sail their yachts and stay in beautiful places.”
“We have a long history of wars and conflict, not peace and development. But our mission is to break with the past”, says Prime Minister Djukanovic who says his fundamental aim is to raise his people’s standard of living.
The prime minister is candid about the development. “We are a small country. We have no space for mass tourism. We want to use every inch of territory that we have to attract the highest-paying guests. We have the frame now we want to fill it with a beautiful picture.”
Adding futher A-list kudos are Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Venus Williams, Michael Schumacher and singer Chrissie Hynde, all of whom have been spotted hunting for holiday homes along the coast
